Warm-up (5 minutes) Prepare 1-3 similar pieces of papers, each of which consists of name of a city. Ask a student to go to the board and talk secretly to her the name of the city, and then ask her to describe the city. The whole class will join a game named “hanging on”. Explain the rule of the game to the whole class. Observe the class and provide structure / vocabulary if necessary. A student goes to the board. Ss listen to the T’s explanation. The rest of the class are expected join the game, guess basing on these Ss’ description. 2. Dialogue Lets students skim the dialogue in the text book to find the new words. Explains the new words to the students. Reads the dialogue as model. Calls students to read the dialogue. Divides the class into 8 groups of 5 students. Asks each group to find out the words, phrases, and sentences used in the dialogue to describe a city. Skim the dialogue to find new words. Write new words explanations in their notebook. Listen to the teacher while she’s reading the dialogue. Read the dialogue. Work in groups to find out the words, phrases, and sentences used in the dialogue to describe a city. 3. Role-play 4. Summary Repeats the structures learned in this period to describe a city. Gives homework to students to present next week, the topic is “talk about your dreamed city”. Listen to the teacher and take note.
