1. Aims: 
Help Ss get some information about some atheles, kinds of sports and sports events.
Help Ss understand information given and do tasks better.
2. Lexical items: Words related to sports.
3. Teaching aids: Pictures of some athletes, black board, etc.
4. Procedure:

I. Warm – up: Guess names of sports.
Group 1: Fencing, billiards, football, cycling , boxing.
Group 2: Athletics, tennis , volleyball, swimming, bodybuilding
_ Divide class into 2 big groups, each group has one representive (use gesture to express the words).
(The other Ss in each group guess the words and write them on the board. Group writes more words correctly and quickly will be the winner).
_ 2 Ss have to give the suitable action to express the name of sports).
_ Guess the words and write them on the board. 
II. Before you read: Answer the questions:
_ Ask Ss work in pairs to discuss the questions:
+ How often are the Asian Games held?
+ How many countries takes part in the Asian Games?
+ What sports is Vietnamese best at?
_ Call 3 pairs to present (1 asks, 1 answers).
_ Give ss the correct answers.
_ Work in pairs to discuss.
_ Read questions and answer them.
III. While you read: 
Task 1: Fill the blank with the suitable words.
_ Remind ss to listen carefully and underline new words.
_ Play the tape once.
_ Ask ss read individually the whole passage.
_ Explain new words:
1. intercultural(adj): understanding between countries.
2. solidarity(n): unity
3. enthusiasm(n): a strong feeling of excitement.
4. facility(n): equipment.
5. aquatic(adj): (in sports) taking place on or in water.
_ Explain the names of sports in pictures (on page 136).
_ Ask ss to read all given words and sentences to do the task.
_ Ask ss how many new words need to be explained.
_ Explain new words in the task.
_ Check the ss’ answers.

-The purpose of the Asian Games is to develop intercultural knowledge and friendship within Asia.
2. How many participants took part in the 14th Asian Games?
-9919 participants took part in the 14th Asian Games.
3. In which sports events did the Vietnamese athletes win gold medals at the Busan Games?
-They won the gold medals in bodybuilding, billards and women, karatedo at the Games in Busan, Korea.
