B. PROCEDURES

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Distinguish the sounds /d / and / t /. - Pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly. - Use some structures containing infinitives with and without “to” in contexts 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Student’s activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on one student and asks him/her some questions relating to the previous lessons. - T gives comment and marks. III. New lesson 1. Warm- up - T divides the class into 2 groups, shows a picture to the class and asks them to describe it. - T checks sts’ answers - T declares the winner (the winner is the one that writes more correct sentences in 2 minutes.) 2. Pronunciation * Pronouncing the two sounds - T models the two sounds / / and / / for a few times and explains the differences in producing them. - T plays the tape once for sts to hear the words containing these two sounds. - T plays the tape again and asks sts to repeat after the tape. * Pronouncing words containing the sounds - T reads the words in each column all at once. - T reads the words once again to help sts distinguish the differences between the sounds in the words. - T reads the words and asks sts to repeat them. - T asks sts to practise pronouncing the words in pairs. - T goes around providing help - T asks some sts to pronounce the words and gives correction. * Practise sentences containing the target sounds - T reads the sentences and asks sts to underline the words with the sounds and write / / and / / under them. - T asks sts to practise the sentences in pairs. - T goes around providing help - T asks some sts to read the sentences and give feedback. 3. Grammar a. To infinitive * Presentation - T writes some examples on the board and underline the “to inf”. Eg: + I have some letters to write. + she wants to meet you - T asks sts to give comment on the use of “to inf” in these examples. - T reviews the form and use of “to inf” in the examples quickly. * Practice (Exercise 1) - T asks to do Exercise 1 individually and then compare their answers with another student. - T calls on some sts to read out their answers. - T feedbacks and gives correct answers. 1. Who wants something to eat? 2. I have some letters to write. 3. I am delighted to hear the news. 4. .......................................... b. Bare infinitive * Presentation - T writes some examples on the board and underline the “bare inf”. Eg:+ I must go to school. + she saw me walk past her house - T asks sts to give comment on the use of “bare inf” in these examples. - T reviews the form and use of “bare inf” in the examples quickly. * Practice (Exercise 2) - T asks sts to do Ex2 in pairs. Sts have to rewrite the sentences by using the given words. - T asks them to compare their answers with another pair. - T calls on some sts to write their answers on the board. - T asks others to feedback and gives correct answers. 1.
