 Aims:

+ to help students practice listening skill (for gist and for specific information)

+ to help students familiarize more with the tasks of multiple choice question and comprehension question

 Objective: by the end of the lesson, the students are able to make a sport report through using some vocabulary relating to the topic “The Asian Games”

 Lexical items: freestyle (n), bar (n), land (v), gymnasium (n), gymnast (n)

 Teaching aids: blackboard, textbook, posters, hand out, tape, cassette, etc.

Aims: 
+ to help students practice listening skill (for gist and for specific information)

Divide class into 2 teams: A & B
Give instruction: “There are 5 words relating to The Asian Game. One person of each team will go to the B.B and try to find out the words by circling them. They could be in horizontal, vertical or diagonal. Which team has more correct words will be the winner.”
Check students’ understanding about the instruction:
+ “Who will go to the B.B to find out the words?”
+ “How can you find them out?”
Get students to play the game

Pre-teach vocabulary (7’)
Elicit and present new words:
+ freestyle (n): “In a swimming race, I can swim by any style I like, that calls” (example)
+ land (n): “This word means fall into the ground” (explanation)
+ gymnast (n): “How do you say “vận động viên thể dục” in English? (translation)
+ gymnasium (n): “This is the room with the equipment for the gymnast to practice physical exercises” (explanation)
+ bar (n) “What is this?” (realia)
Ask students to copy
 Check students’ understanding and memory of the new words: Rub out and remember.
Brainstorming: (3’)
- Ask students to name some kinds of sport in the Asian Games:
