Warm Up : Today we’ll listen to a text about natural resources and natural environment

Pre-listening: (8’-10’)
 - elicits new words and help sts to pronounce them correctly 
- may want to play the tape or model first and then ask sts to repeat after the tape or after the teacher in chorus and individually 
While-listening: (15’-18’)
- asks sts to listen and check their guessing 
- let sts to compare their answers 
- calls on some sts to say their answers 
- checks the answers with the class 
- prepare the multiple choice beforehand for sts to choose 
- asks sts to read these statements and guess the answers before listening 
- asks sts to listen to the tape again (once,twice or three times depending on their abilities ) and find the correct answers 
- gets sts to compare their answers with their partners 
- checks the answers 
- gives sts three minutes to read the paragraph carefully and guess the missing words 
- sts to listen to the tape again and fill in the gaps with the words they have heard 
-let them call out their answer 
Post-listening : (6’-8’)
- asks sts to work in groups of 4 or 5 to discuss these questions .A secretary from each group will note down sts’ ideas 
- asks other sts to share ideas 
- calls on some sts to report their answers 
- give comments on each group 
- pronounce new words correctly 
- listen and repeat in chorus and individually 
- will listen to the recording twice .At the first time ,asks sts to list all the resources they hear .At the second time ,sts tick which resource is renewable and which is nonrenewable 
- say their answers 
- listen to the tape again (once,twice or three times depending on their abilities ) and find the correct answers 
- compare their answers with their partners
- have three minutes to read the paragraph carefully and guess the missing words
Sts listen to the tape again and fill in the gaps with the words they have heard 
- call out their answer

To know how to read and to write a chart of energy consumption ,we will study the lesson today

- asks sts to work in pairs ,based on the chart in the textbook on page 130 and asks sts to write a description of the trends in energy consumption in the year 2005 in Highland 
- set the time limited in five minutes 
- move around to give help 
When sts have finished ,T asks them to exchange their writings,comparing and giving corrections 
Then sts work individually to describe the chart ,using the information from task 1 and task 2 
 - goes around to observe and offer help 
Post-writing
- asks sts to exchange their writing with another student for peer correction 
- goes around and collects mistakes and errors 
- collects some writings for quick feedback
- writes sts ‘ typical error on the board and elicits seft and peer correction 
-corrects 
- work in pairs ,look at the chart carefully and read the passage ,contrasting the chart with the passage to find out the missing information 
- compare the answer with other pairs 
- work in pairs , based on the chart in the textbook on page 130 and asks sts to write a description of the trends in energy consumption in the year 2005 in Highland

Sample writing :
The total energy consumption in 2005 was over 140 million tons /under 160 million tons .Nuclear and Hydroelectricity made up the largest amount of this figure .There was nearly as much petroleum used as coal which only made up the smallest proportion of the total about 41 million tons 
II/ TASK 3 : (10’-11’)
Sample writing :
There was an upward trend in the consumption of coal and nuclear –hydroelectricity but there was a sharp decrease in the use of petroleum .The amount of coal used increased by 20 million tons and the consumption of nuclear – hydroelectricity went up dramatically by 54 million tons .However ,the amount of petroleum consumed in 2005 fell by 15 million tons
