III) PROCEDURES IN CLASS .
 1. Stabilization : (1 minute)
 * Greeting the students and asking them something about the attendance , their health, the weather and preparation
 2. Checking-up the previous knowledge : (5 minutes)
* Calling one student to B/B:
+ Put an accent on the following words
1. ceremony 2. machine 3. geothermal 4. alternative
5. electricity 6. potential 7. infinite 8. energy
+ Answer the questions:
What is our main source of energy ?
Is this main source of energy limited ?
How many sources of energy do you know and what are they ?
Which one do you think has the most potential ? why ?
* Correcting the mistakes , giving remarks and marking.
	Answer keys
Our major sources of energy is fossil fuels (oil , coal , natural gas)
Yes, it is. Because our demand is increasing very quickly and fossil fuels will be exhausted within a relative short time.
The sources of energy mentioned in the text are: fossil fuels, nuclear energy, geothermal heat, solar energy, wind power, water power.
I think solar energy is the most potential energy of all the alternative sources of energy.

1. Warmer:
Game: Right or wrong chair
* Asking the students to work in two groups. Five students from each group stand in two lines.
* Putting two chairs in front of the class. Sticking the word: limited or unlimited on each chair
* Saying out some sources of energy randomly . (oil , wind power , natural gas , nuclear power , solar energy , coal , water power)
* Asking the students to listen and decide which energy is limited and which is unlimited
* Students take turns running to the right chair to sit down.
The group that has more points will win the game.
* Checking the students’ understanding of the instruction.
Expected answers:
Limited Unlimited
 Oil Wind power
 Coal Natural gas
 Nuclear power
 Solar energy
 Water power
Lead in:
* Asking the students :
Who can tell me again about the advantages and disadvantages of these sources of energy ?
* Emphasizing on the students’ answers and introducing the new lesson.
* Writing the lesson down

1. renewable [ri'nju:əbl] (a)
có thể hồi phục lại (that is replaced naturally) # non-renewable
(explanation)
2. reactor [ri:'æktə] (n) lò phản ứng

3. While speaking:
Activity 1: Repetition
Task 2: (p.128)
* Providing students with the model on the handout on B/B so that students can make conversations about the sources of energy like this.
Model:
A: I think / believe that wind power
can be alternative sources of energy
B: Why do you think / believe so ?
A: Because our major sources of
energy are running out while the
 wind is abundant and unlimited
B: I know it is also clean and safe to
the environment . However, it is not
available when there is no wind
* Asking the students to practice the model in pairs simultaneously
* Going around the class and giving help if necessary
* Calling some pairs to the front of the class to act out the conversation.
* Writing down the model
* Practicing the model in pairs simultaneously
* Some pairs go to the front of the class to act out the conversation.
Task 2: (p.128)
Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of using each alternative source of energy
Activity 2: Substitution
Task 2: (p.128)
* Asking the students to work in pairs to act out their conversations with sources of energy such as oil , wind power , natural gas , nuclear power , solar energy , coal , water power
* Going around the class and giving help if necessary
* Calling some pairs to the front of the class to act out the conversation.
* Working in pairs , acting out their conversations with sources of energy such as oil , wind power , natural gas , nuclear power , solar energy , coal , water power
* Some pairs act out the conversation.

4. Post speaking
Task 3 : (Page 128)
Group discussion
* Asking the students to work in pairs to talk about the way how to save the present source of energy
* Giving the students some suggested ideas:
+ Try to reduce the amount of water bill or electricity bill by cutting power such as lights, conditioner when necessary.
+ Don’t cook with electricity
+ Mare sure that there are no cracks in the pipes
Suggested speech:
Who can imagine our life without electricity ? Nowadays we use electricity in many fields in our daily life so if there were no electricity, our life would be very , very difficult . I think it’s time we saved electricity . For example, we can save water by using water less ; we cut down light bulbs in the house if unnecessary .
* Working in pairs to talk about the way how to save the present source of energy
* Some pairs go in front of the class to act out
Task 3 : Page 128
