I. OBJECTIVES
 Aims: Educate Ss to appropriate about the competitions on TV at Viet Nam and on the world.
 - Guides Ss to know about the competitions in Viet Nam exactly.
 - Develop such reading micro-skill as scanning for special ideas and skimming for general information.
 - Use the information they have read to discuss and practice the exercises.
 * Lexical items: Words or phrases to related reading.
 * Skills: Reading for gist and for specific information.
II. METHOD: Integrated, mainly communication.

Warm-up 
- Ask some questions.
1. Have you ever taken part in the competitions in school?

- Intoduce the new lesson:

- Listen and prepare.
- Answer freely.

Pre – Reading
- Give some new words and explain the meaning.

- Guides Ss to read the words.
- Calls Ss to read them.
- Listen and write new words
- Read new words in chorus.
While-Reading
- Introduce the passage.
Exercise 1
- Asks Ss to read the passage and find the words or expressions that mean the following.
- Guides Ss to make some strategies.
- Asks Ss to work in pairs.
- Guides Ss to read the passage carefully to understand the contents main.
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Asks them to compare their answers with friends 
- Calls Some Ss to read aloud their answers. 
- Gives corrected answer.
While-Reading
- Listen and prepare doing exercises.
