1. Objectives:

- Skill: After the lesson, Ss will be able to develop such listening skills as listening for specific information and detailed information.

- Language: Ss will be able to build a wider range of vocabularies related to the topic and can talk about athlete they know or like.

2. Assumed knowledge:

Students have already known some basic vocabulary items and have had some background knowledge of the Asian Games.

3. Teaching aids:

Textbook, blackboard, chalk, cassette tapes.

4. Procedure:

UNIT 12: THE ASIAN GAMES
Listening Skill
1. Objectives:
- Skill: After the lesson, Ss will be able to develop such listening skills as listening for specific information and detailed information.
- Language: Ss will be able to build a wider range of vocabularies related to the topic and can talk about athlete they know or like.
2. Assumed knowledge: 
Students have already known some basic vocabulary items and have had some background knowledge of the Asian Games. 
3. Teaching aids: 
Textbook, blackboard, chalk, cassette tapes.

Asks Ss to look at the pictures on p.141 and answer the questions:
1. What are the names of these sports? (from the left to the right and top to bottom)

- Explains new words and asks them to read after the teacher.

While-listening:
* Task 1 (10m)
- Asks Ss to look through all questions in task 1 to check whether there are any new words.
- Asks Ss to listen to the tape once to do task 1.
- Asks Ss to discuss the answers in groups and exchange the answers.
-Calls some Ss to write down the answer on the board.
- Then, replays the tape and pause at the sentence where the answer is revealed for Ss to check by themselves easily.

- Asks Ss to listen to the tape again and do task 2.
- Checks with the whole class and asks Ss what they hear in the tape to answer the questions.
- Lets Ss listen again if necessary.
