CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTION 
PENGGUNAAN EITHER ... OR DAN NEITHER ... NOR
1. Either ... or adalah kata penghubung korelatif (Correlative conjunction) yang bersifat positif dan menyatakan salah satu kemungkinan dari dua kemungkinan yang ada. Contoh: “you’re going to the shop, or you’re going to the market. Is that right?” “yes, i’m going either to the shop or to the market” (Anda mau ke toko, atau anda mau ke pasar. Betulkah? Ya, saya mau ke toko atau ke pasar).
2. Neither ... nor ... adalah kebalikan dari either ... or yang mengkonotasikan pengertian tak satu pun dari dua kemungkinan yang diakui adanya atau berlakunya. Jadi, I’m neither hungry nor thirsty mengandung arti bahwa “saya tidak lapar dan tidak haus”.
Selanjutnya, perlu diperhatikan bahwa apabila dua subjek dihubungkan dengan either ... or dan neither ... nor, maka subjek yang ke-2 harus dijadikan patokan dalam menentukan tunggal atau jamaknya verba yang akan dipakai (verb be dan do). Bandingkan ungkapan ... my uncle is a teacher dengan ungkapan ... my parents are teachers dalam contoh 2 diatas!
