Warm- up activity: - T divides class into 2 groups - Each group has one representative to go to the board. - Asks 2 group leaders to go to the board and write down the sports they have learnt Which group has more correct words will be the winner. Lead in: “Where do these activities take place ? “Today , you are going to talk to Asian Games and some Vietnamese famous athletes.” - write the names of sports on the board Suggested answer: Bodybuilding Shooting. Billiards. Karatedo. Football Cycling Volleyball Table tennis. Wrestling Boxing Squash Rugby Fencing Mountain biking Basketball Aquatic sports Athletics Weightlifting Hockey Basketball 4’ II. Pre- speaking: - Give meaning of some new words given in the book. Vocabulary : + Host country : nước chủ nhà + To take part in : tham dự , tham gia + Bronze medal : huy chương đồng - Write down the words in the notebook 15’ 15’ III. While – speaking: Task 1: Work in pairs. Ask and answer questions about the Asian games, using the information from the table below. - Asks Ss to open book to p 139 - Asks them to read the examples carefully. Then asks them some questions about the examples: “how many questions are there? What are the questions?” => make similar conversation as the examples. A. When and where were the 1st Asian Games held? B : In 1951 in Qatar. A . How many countries took part in the Games? B: Eleven A . How many sports were there at the Games? B : Six. - Ss have 5’ to work in pairs. - Goes around to check and offer help - Play the games “ lucky star” Law: 3 stars contain numbers, 3 others which donot contain numbers called “ lucky star”. If ss choose the star with numbers, they have to make the conversation about that Asian Games. With correct answers, they will receive gifts. If they choose lucky stars, they donot have to make conversation, but still receive gifts Task 2: : Talk about the sports results of the Vietnamese athletes at 14th Asian Games, using the information below. - T asks Ss to open book (p140) and look at the table at task 2. 1 1 Wushu 1 Shooting 1 2 Karatedo 1 1 Billiards 1 1 Bodybuildingng Bronze Medals Silver Medals Gold Medals Sports MEDALS WON BY VIETNAM (at 14th Asian Games held in Busan, Korea) - Put Ss in groups of 3-4 - Ask them to ask and answer about Vietnamese performance and achievements at the 14th Asia Games. - Give them some useful languages: A: In billiards, the Vietnamese athletes won B: How many medals did they win in ..? C: They won. B: What about? D: As seen in the table, they wonin, won.in. A: At the 14th Asian Games, the Vietnamese athletes won.in total. - T sets time limit of 5’ for Ss to practice. - T walks around to control. - After that, T calls some groups to go to board and practice the task. - Give feedback. - Look at the book. - Answer teacher’s questions - Work in pairs. - Make the same dialogue. - Play the game. 5’ III. Post –listening : - Gives the game “who I am?” - Calls 1 student to go to the board, that one plays the role of one famous athletes. The rest of the class will ask “Yes-No” questions to that student and guess who he/ she is. - One student will go to the board - The whole class set questions. - The student on the board only says “Yes/No” 1’ IV. Home work: - Prepare for the next lesson.
