- Set the scene: You are going to read about school’s competition. Then you do the tasks following. 
- Introduces some new words by asking Ss to match it with its meaning.

- Call on Ss to go to board to write their answer.
- Check and give feedback
- Ask students to read aloud the new words following the teacher.
- Ask students to read the text then do Task 1
- Remind Ss of the strategies for guessing the meaning of new words. For example, Ss should look for the instances of the new words in the text and read around them. Ss use the context in which the words occur and their knowledge of word formation to understand the meanings. E.g. the word “representative” found in line 1 may refer to “someone who represents a group”. Ss can understand this meaning thanks to the phrase “the representatives of three classes” and their knowledge that ‘representative’ derives from “represent”. 
- Call on Ss to answers
- Check the answers with the whole class.
- Check that Ss understand all these words correctly by calling on some Ss to tell the meaning of the words in Vietnamese.
- Check if Ss can answer in Task 2 without having to read the passage again. If Ss cannot, T gets them to read the requirement and the statements carefully. 
- Ask Ss to find the key words of the statements individually
- Get Ss to check their answers with a peer
- Call on some Ss to read aloud their answers and ask them to explain their choices.
- Provide the correct answers and feedback
- Read the par.3 again and ask Ss to circle the best answer.
- Get Ss to check their answers with a peer
- Call on some Ss to write their answers on the board and ask them to explain their choices.
- Give the correct answers:
- Divide the class into 4 groups to find the words related to the topic “Competition” 
- Go around to observe the class.
- Call on two leaders of two groups to go to board and circle the words

-For homework, Ss write a paragraph to explain whether and why they would agree or disagree with the statement that “It is not important whether we win or lose a competition. The important thing is our participation in it and the enjoyment we have from it”.
