B. PROCEDURES

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Use appropriate language to talk about parties and negotiate how to plan them. - Use appropriate language to invite people to cmoe to parties. 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, some pictures, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Student’s activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on 1 student to talk about what American people often do in birthday parties and anniversaries. - T gives comments and mark. III. New lesson 1. Warm- up Talking about a party - T asks sts if they like parties and why to lead them to the topic.Then T asks if they have ever been to a party. If sts say yes, T asks follow-up qs like “Whose party was it?” “Where was it?” ........... ( if sts say no, T gets sts to ask him these qs about party) - T sets the scene: “Suppose you have been to a party and now you want to tell your friend about it. What do you want to tell them?” - T elicits sts’ ideas and write on the board. - T teaches necessary language for talking about parties and introduces the new lesson. 2. Task 1: - T asks 1 student to read out the requirement of the task. - T introduces the talk and goes over the qs with the class and explains some new words. - T gets sts to do the task individually. - T goes round the class to check and offer help 3. Task 2 - T asks 1 student to read out the requirement of the task. - T puts sts in pairs and gets them to tell each other about the parties they have been to, based on the outlines they have made for task 1. -T goes around, controls, and helps. - T calls on some pairs to report their conversations in front of the class. - T elicits feedback from the class and gives final comment 4. Task 3: - T introduces the situation and asks if sts have ever planned a party with someone else. - T elicits things they consider when planning the party. - T writes on the board and teaches sts some necessary vocabulary items When? (date and time); Where? (home? restaurant?); Entertainment? ( dance? music? games?); budget? (how much?)........ - T teaches sts some useful expressions for negotiating. - T gives examples and gets sts to do some practice with these expressions - T divides the class into small group of 4 and gets them to do the task. -T goes around, controls, and helps (T listens, takes note of their errors and gives feedback when necessary) 5. Task 4: - T introduces Task 4 after checking that all the groups have finished Task - T elicits the verb tenses and structures sts want to use when performing the class about their coming party. - T teaches some expressions for inviting and persuading. - T gets sts to do some practice with these structures. - T calls on the representative of each group to report about the parties they have planned. T asks sts to listen and take note carefully while listening so that they can decide which parties would be best and they would most love to come. - T listens, takes note of their errors and gives feedback when necessary IV. Consolidation - T summarises the main points of the lesson. V. Homework - T asks sts to learn by heart all of the words and expressions used to talk about planning the parties and do the extra exercises in workbook. VI. Feedback 1. Good points 2.
