 - Distinguish the uses of different verb tenses: Present simple for indicating the past, past simple, past continuous and past perfect.

 - Use these verb tenses to solve communicative tasks.

 2. Teaching aids:

 - blackboard, chalk, handouts

 - textbook, lesson plan

 A. Aims 
 1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:

- T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement.
 II. Checking the old lesson
- T calls on 2 sts to go to the board. One does the rest of Ex1 and the other does the rest of Ex2 in page 30

- T divides the class into 2 groups, instructs them how to play the game.

 2. Grammar (revision)
 a. Present simple tense
* Presentation
- T writes some examples on the board and underline the “verbs”.
Eg: Long time ago, there is a beautiful princess whose mother died when she was born, so she lives ....
- T asks sts to give comments on the use of “verb tense” in these examples. 
- T presents: Thì hiện tại đơn có thể được dùng để diễn tả các việc xảy ra trong quá khứ trong bài tường thuật, kể chuyện........
 * Practice (Exercises below)
 b. Tense revision
 * Presentation
- T writes some examples on the board and underline the “verb tense”.
Eg: +I watched TV last night.
 + Tom was doing his homework when I came.
 + I had finished dinner before An came.
- T asks sts to give comments on the use of “verb tenses” in these examples. 
- T reviews the use of “verb tenses” in the examples quickly.
+Thì quá khứ đơn diễn tả một hành động xảy ra và chấm dứt trong quá khứ.
Eg: I went to the cinema last night.
+ Thì QKTD diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.
Eg: She was having a bath when I phoned.
+ Thì QKHT diễn tả hành động xảy ra trước một thời điển hay trước một hành động khác trong quá khứ.
Eg: He had done all his homework before 9.
