His real name was Samuel Longhorn Clemens.He was born in Missouri in 1835. He grew up on the banks of the Mississippi River. He started writing during the Civil War. He worked as a newspaperman in Nevada and California. In 1970, Mark Twain married Olivia Langdon . His wife had great influence on his books. Mark Twain was also a famous lecturer. He traveled around the country, giving talks on a variety of subjects. His best works are “ Tom Sawyer” and “ Huckleberry” and another book “ Life on the Mississippi” which told of his adventures on the river boats of his era. His last novel was written in 1909. He died at the age of 74.
