1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Distinguish the uses of different verb tenses: past simple, past continuous and past perfect.
- Use these verb tenses to solve communicative tasks.

B. PROCEDURES
Date of preparation: Date of teaching : Period: 4 Lesson 4: Tense Revision (Past simple, past perfect and past continuous) A. Aims 1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Distinguish the uses of different verb tenses: past simple, past continuous and past perfect. - Use these verb tenses to solve communicative tasks. 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Students’ activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on one student to go to the board and asks some questions about him/her. - T gives comments and marks III. New lesson 1. Warm- up : Noughts and crosses - T divides the class into 2 groups, instructs them how to play the game. went bought told discovered listening wanted invented watching reading - T gets sts to play the game. - T declares the winner 2. Grammar : (Past simple, past perfect and past continuous) a. Presentation - T writes some examples on the board and underline the “verb tense”. Eg: +I watched TV last night. + Tom was doing his homework when I came. + I had finished dinner before An came. - T asks sts to give comments on the use of “verb tenses” in these examples. - T reviews the use of “verb tenses” in the examples quickly. +Thì quá khứ đơn diễn tả một hành động xảy ra và chấm dứt hoàn toàn trong quá khứ. Eg: I went to the cinema last night. + Thì QKTD diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ. Hay diễn tả 1 hành động đang xảy ra thì một hành động khác xen vào. Eg: She was having a bath when I phoned. + Thì QKHT diễn tả hành động xảy ra trước một thời điển hay trước một hành động khác trong quá khứ. Eg: He had done all his homework before 9. b. Practice (handouts) IV. Consolidation - T summarises the main points of the lesson. V. Homework - T asks sts to do the extra exercises in the workbook. VI. Feedback 1. Good points 2.
