1. Warm – up : Game : Matching 
-Divide the class into 2 groups 
-Stick 6 pictures of some competitions relating task 1, p . 69 and 6 cards with words about types of competition on them
-Number the pictures and letter the cards 
-Put them in mixed order .
-Ask each group to nominate representatives to go to the board , one by one to write their answers .
-The group that has written the most correct competitions will be the winner 
-Check students’ understanding of instructions and have students start the game.
-Give feedback and declare the winner.

 - Let students make an interview then get them to see which types of competition / contest they like or dislike.
 - Put the mark in the column “like / dislike” for each interview. 
 - Who can finish their task in 3 minutes will report the most and the least favorite competition.
 - Give good marks for those students.
3. While – speaking:
a. Activity 1 : Interviewing
-Tell the students to ask their partner how he / she feel about each type of the competitions /contests in task 1.
-Ask students to read the example given.
-Call on one student to do one more example based on the chart given.
-Encourage students to add more ideas.
-Make sure that students know what they are going to do.
-Move around to control and give help if necessary.
-Call on some pairs to act out their conversations.
b. Activity 2 : Guessing game 
-Divide the class into 4 groups and tell each student in each group to talk about a competition or a contest they have recently joined or seen on TV in 6 minutes .
-Ask each group to choose the best student to take part in the game .
-A representative of each group will stand in front of the class and tell about the competition or contest they have recently joined or seen by using suggestions given gradually. Other groups have to listen and give the name of the competition/ contest .
-The group who gives the correct answer first will get 1 mark .
-Give good marks for the students who have correct answers .
-Move around to control to give help if necessary.
-Let students play the game and declare the winner.
4. Post – speaking:
- Prepare a set of general knowledge questions (about 10 questions )
 1. What does water consist of?
 2. What language do all airline pilots need to speak?
 3. How many sides does a cube have?
 4. Which of these elements do you need for something to burn?
 5. How many teeth does an average adult have?
 6. What mammal lives the longest?
 7. Where is the smallest bone in the human body?
 8. What is the red planet?
 9. What sense is the most closely linked to memory?
 10. In what month the earth is nearest to the sun?
-Deliver handouts and ask students to listen and circle the answer of each question.
-Give one mark for each correct answer.
-The group who has more correct answers will be the winner.
-Declare the winner.

-Have students to write a competition / contest they have recently joined or seen

I enjoy watching Tv and I often spend two or three to watch it everyday , I sometimes spend more time watching it at weekend.One of my favourite programme is “The way to Olympia Peak”.It is always on from 9 o’clock to 11 o’clock on VTV3 on Sunday.I like watching it because the three competitions on each show are very intelligent .They are all advanced students from diferent school .They have to answer some questions about general knowledge of natural and social science .Many questions are very chakenging for me .I am interested in watching it but I don’t think I am able to take part in it.
