Teaching steps: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities A.1 Listen and repeat. Uses a picture to introduce parts of the body. Says the new words as pointing to the picture and ask students to repeat. New word: - head, shoulder(s), arm(s), hand(s), finger(s), leg(s), foot/ feet, toe(s). Mentions the pronunciation of the final sound and the irregular form of the word “foot”. Have them practice these sounds. Look at the picture and listen to the teacher. Repeat the new words, pay attention to each part of the body pointed by the teacher. Listen to the teacher and practice as he/she asks. Notice the irregular form of “foot” → “feet”. Practice orally. A.2 Practice with a partner. Lets them practice in pairs. Points to the pictures and ask, “What’s this?/What are these?/ What’s that?/What are those?” Has some pairs drill before the class. Asks them to repeat the new words as pointing to the details. Has some students go to the blackboard, points to the details and says the name of each detail, then erases the words and asks some others to redo. Uses picture to describe a face and explain the meaning of adjectives: round, oval, full, thin, long, short. Asks students to look at their partners’ face and describe. Has students write 5 complete sentences to describe their friends. Look at the picture drawn on the board. Pay attention to each part of the face as the teacher introduces. Repeat the new words and look at the points the teacher shows. Go to the blackboard point to the details on the face and say the names of the details. Try to redo this exercise. Look at the pictures and listen to the teacher’s explanation. Notice the meanings of the adjectives. Practice in groups. Look at the partner’s face and describe. Write five complete sentences to describe their friends. B.2 Listen and repeat Uses a chart of colors to show and tell the name of each color. Asks them repeat. Has them retell. Shows things around and asks students to say the names of the color. Look at the chart of colors and listen to the teacher. Repeat the new words. Retell the names of color. Try to say the colors as your teacher asks. Say as many colors as possible.
