Procedure: Teaher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm- up - Asks some questions. 1. What do streets look like before Tet ? 2. What do people often do to prepare for Tet? - Introduce the new lesson. Warm-up - Listen and prepare. - Answer freely. - Listen. 2. PRE- SPEAKING Task 1 * Introduce: You are goimg to read a conversation between Mai and Anna who are talking about Tet holiday in Vietnam. - Guides Ss to use some strategies about a conversation. - Explain the new words and pronunciation. - Asks Ss to read the dialogue silently and asks them what points mentioned in the dialogue. Useful expression + When is it exactly? + What do people often do at ......? + Oh, that sounds really interesting. - Asks Ss to practice the dialogue in pairs. - Walks around the class to help Ss when necessary. - Calls some pairs to practice the dialogue in front of the class and give comments. PRE- SPEAKING Task 1 - Read a conversation between Mai and Anna who are talking about Tet holiday in Vietnam. - Use some strategies about a conversation. - Copy down - Practice the dialogue in pairs. While- speaking Task 2 * Introduce: You are going to match the holiday with its description and activities. - Introduce some the new words and words phrases. B: it falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. A: What do people often do on that day? B: People eat mooncakes, fruit, drink tea and admire the full moon. A: What about the children? B: Children have mooncakes and lot of fruit. Then they carry their beautiful glowing lanterns along the streets in their neighbourhood. Dragon dancing is also a special activity on this day.
