Aim: By the end of the lesson, Sts have a knowledge of Nam Cat Tien national park and know how to protect the environment.

Game: Guessing
 + Don’t use VietNamese.
+ Don’t spell the word.
+ Use relative clause to explain the picture.
Eg. Picture of a customer.
" This is the person who buys something from a shop.
Unit 10. Conservation
 ( Pre- reading and While- reading.)
Pre-reading: Lead-in
What can you see in the picture?
What are the reasons for these environmental damage?
Match the suitable solutions to these problems.
Solutions
- Control the burning of forest .
- Control the cutting down of trees.
- Clean up the beach.
- Reducing using cars and motorbikes.
- Ban wildlife poaching and trading.
- Establish national parks where animals and plants can be protected.
While_reading.
Task b: Match the words and phrases in column A with approriate meanings in column B
Homework
Learn the words and phrases in task B by heart.
Prepare the next part of the reading text.
- Greetings
- Check the attendance of the class.
- T prepares 5 pictures: a customer, a nurse, a computer, a dictionary and a harpoon gun.
- T gives instructions and makes a model example.
- T calls one St to come to the board and T shows one picture to only this St. ( Don’t let the whole class know what it is ).
- The responsibility of this St is to explain in order for the class to guess the name of the thing or person in the picture.
- The game continues with 3 other students.
- T gives scores for Sts who give understandable explanations.
Expected answers
1. a nurse
This is the person who takes care of the patients in the hospital.
2. a computer
This is the thing which is used to send and receive an email, not a mobile phone.
3. a dictionary
This is a thing which gives the meanings of words.
4. a harpoon gun 
This is a thing which fishermen use to catch big fish.
- T prepares 4 pictures: forest fire, deforestation, air pollution, oil spill and rare animals.
- T sticks these pictures on the board and asks Sts these questions.
- T writes the answers on the board.
Expected answers:
1) Forest fire, deforestation, air pollution, oil spill and rare animals.
2) Reasons
- People burn forest to make way for farmland.
- People cut trees to get wood.
- Exhaust from factories and vehicles are released into the air.
- There’s accident in the sea.
- Habitats of animals are destroyed.
- Animals are hunted for meat, fur and so on.
3) 
- T prepares many pieces of papers, on each of which there is a solution to each problem.
- T reads aloud one by one solution for the whole class to follow.
- Sts are asked to stick the suitable solution under the picture that show environmental problem.
→ After giving solution” Establish the national parks where animals and plants can be protected”, T leads in the topic of the reading text by saying” The park we will learn today is Nam Cat Tien national park. To know more about it, let’s read the text on page 127”.
- T calls some Sts to read aloud the text.
- Then Sts work in pairs to do task B on page 128.
- 2 Sts are asked to write their answers on the board.
- T checks and gives feedback.
- T calls one St to read aloud one word or phrase in column A and another St to read aloud the suitable meaning in column B.
- T assigns the homework and Sts copy down.
