On their notebooks, ask them to add to the charts. - Use the gap fill in task 1 (page 138) to check vocabulary. - Ask Ss to call out their answers. - Ask Ss to read the text silently and answer their questions. - Ask Ss to compare their answers with a partner. - Feedback: Call on some Ss to read their answers. - Have Ss work in pairs, asking and answering the questions. - Ask Ss to search the internet to find out the information that isn’t mentioned in the text. - Let Ss read the passage again and complete the table in task 2 (p 138). - In pairs, have Ss fill in the table with the year and the events. Compare the answer with other pairs. - Ask Ss to close their books. - Divide the class into two groups. - Draw a table with 12 numbers on the board (see Appendix) - Tell Ss some of them are lucky numbers. If Ss call out one of them, they will get 2 marks and they have the right to choose another number. One mark will be for each question. The group that can score more points will win the game. - Answer - Say out their ideas - Answer - Read the text silently and answer the questions. - Compare the answers with a partner. - Work in pairs - Read the passage again and complete the table in task 2 (p 138).
