Grammar: 
CLEFT sentences
- Explains Ss how to use:
1. Subject focus: 
Structures: It + be + phrases + that + relative clause.
Example:
Mr John collected these foreign stamps.
+ It was Mr John that collected these foreign stamps.
+ It is our neighbor that often complains about the noise at night
2. Object focus.
Structures: It + be + phrases + that + relative clause.
Example:
It was this book (that) Mr John wrote.
3. Adverbial Focus
Structures: It + be + Adverbial of place + that + relative clause.
Example:
It's in this village that Phan Thanh Gian was born.
-Listen to the teacher carefully
- Study
- Copy down the notebook
- Put some sentences.
+ It was my brother that liked climbing up trees and hill.
It was this man that he was looking for.
It was in this house that I was born
gather for dinner.
It was by working hard that he succeeded in the competition.
It was after their parents died that they realized how important the parental love was!
Exercise 1:	(page 86, 87)
*Introduce: 
- Asks Ss to rewrite the following sentences after the model, paying attention to the subject of the sentences.
- Gives Ss some new words and write them on the board then explain the meaning.
- Guides Ss to make some strategies.
- Asks Ss to read carefully sentences.
- Asks Ss to work individually and then discuss the following pairs.
Example:
The man gave her the book.
+ It was the man who gave her the book.
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Suggested answer.
- Asks Ss to compare their answer with friends.
- Calls on Ss to answer and practice the sentences in front of the class.
- Corrected answer.
Exercise 1:
- rewrite the following sentences after the model, paying attention to the subject of the sentences.
- Copy down the notebook
- Read carefully sentences.
- Work individually and then discuss the following pairs.
- Compare the answer with friends.
- Write the correct answers on the board.
1) It was the neighbor who told them about it.
2) It was my friend who came to see me late last night
3) It was that boy who scored the goal for his team
4) It was the dog that grabbed at the piece of meat and ran away
5) It was the strong wind that blew the roof off.
6) It was the man who the woman answered rudely.
7) It was the man who was answered rudely by the woman.
8) It was ping pong that the boy played the whole afternoon.
9) It was the boy who was given a special gift by the girl on his birthday.
10) It was the boy who the girl gave a special gift by the girl on his birthday.
- Practice the sentences in front of the class.
Homework
- Asks Ss to review:
+ Asks Ss to review CLEFT sentences
- Asks Ss to prepare the new lesson.
- Work at home.
