Procedure:
Warm-up: Game: Hangman (3’)
- Teacher gives instructions: “First, I would like to divide you into 2 teams: Team A and team B. Now I have one word in my mind. It has eight letters. Each team will in turn say out any word in the alphabet. If your word is correct, I will put it in the position, but if you guess wrong letters, I will start to draw a hangman. Which team can guess the word before I finish the hangman first will be the winner.”

(Expected answer: National stadium/ local stadium, National sport centre, Training areas, Sport buildings and roads to sport buildings, Car parks, Hotels, Guesthouses, Facilities for disable athletes, etc) Ask Ss: “Suppose Vietnam is going to hold the coming Asian Games. What facilities does our country need to have?” Lead-in: “To go to the details, today we are going to write a paragraph to describe the preparations for the Games”. Teacher writes the title on the B.B: Unit 12: THE ASIAN GAMES Stage 1: Pre-writing (12 minutes) Pre-teach vocabulary (7’) Teacher elicits and presents new words Recruit (v): “How do you say “tuyển chọn” in English?” (translation) Upgrade (v): “Our school now is not in good condition. We have to upgrade to make it better. What will we have to do to prepare for the Games?” Teacher gives the hand-out: A What should we build first? Will we upgrade the National Sports Centers and the local stadiums? Why? What’s about the training areas and the roads to the sports building? What will we equip for the hotels and guests houses with? What’s for? ..
