New lesson : (2’) Warm Up ( 5’)ives the picture and asks them two questions What can you see in the picture ? in the picture 1,the earth looks like an old ,tired man with too many people on his head ,shoulders and arms . What does the picture tell you ? The picture tells us that the earth may not properly accommodate too many people .we are facing overpopulation Today we ‘ll study how to talk about the causes of population explosion ,problems of population booms and solutions to these problems Teacher’s activities Students’ activities content Pre-speaking ( 12’) Before letting sts do the task, asks them to read through the causes provided on page 83 - makes sure that sts understand these statements - gets sts to work in pairs to order the causes and reminds them to explain their order -goes around to observe and provides help - calls on some pairs to present their order and asks other pairs if they agree or disagree with their friends’ answers While- speaking ( 15’) - asks sts to read the useful language on page 83 - reminds sts that they should match the words /phrases on the left with the words /phrases on the right Now sts work in pairs to list the problems of poor and overpopulated countries .T may ask them to think of other problems not mentioned in the book - calls on some pairs to perform their conversations,using the structures and vocabulary they have learned in front of the class - corrects - asks sts to work in groups to do the task - goes around to check and offer help - calls on some groups to perform their answers in front of the class - corrects Post-speaking : (10 minutes) - reminds sts that now they are going to give a short presentation of the problems of population explosion and the solutions to them When sts work in group to perform the task , - goes around to observe and provide help when necessary . - may also collect sts’ typical mistakes and errors - calls on some group representatives to present and asks others to comment ,correct - work in pairs to order the causes and reminds them to explain their order ,then compare the answers with a peer - present their order and asks other pairs if they agree or disagree with their friends’ answers - take notes - read the useful language on page 83 - repeat some words and take notes - practice them,using the structures and vocabulary they have learned work in pairs - perform their conversations in front of the class - may work out their solutions - work in groups to talk about one activity their partner take part in - perform their answers in front of the class - give a short presentation of the problems of population explosion and the solutions to them - perform their answers in front of the class I/ Task 1 : You are going to put the following causes to overpopulation in order of importance and explain your decision People are not properly educated . B: I think it’s because people are not properly educated so they feel free to have more children A: I quite agree with you B: that’s it ,so the government has to do more to control the growth of population II/ TASK 2 : You are going to work in pairs to list the problems facing poor and overpopulated countries Model : A: what can be problems that face poor and overpopulated countries? B: I think people living there have bad living conditions and not enough food to eat .There is also a lack of schools and hospitals . A: And what’s more there aren’t enough jobs for everyone . B: Their lives are terrible and their children are often illiterate III/ TASk 3 : (5’-7’) Now you work in groups to find out the solutions to the problems of overpopulation Model : Overpopulation is really a problem that faces poor and overpopulated countries .It brings about a lot of results that worry all of us .First of all people living there often have bad living conditions .Also ,there aren’t enough jobs for everyone so their lives are terrible and their children are often illiterate . B: I think they should raise their people’s awareness of the problem of overpopulation /problem caused by overpopulation A: That sounds good but what do they do exactly ?
