 + learn many words about the New Year’s Day in Japan.

 + develop the listening skill of intensive listening for specific information.

III. Objectives:
 By the end of the lesson, SS are able to:
 + learn many words about the New Year’s Day in Japan.
 + develop the listening skill of intensive listening for specific information.
IV. Knowledge: 
Recent work.
Language knowledge:
- They knew a lot of popular words.
 3. Method and teaching aids:
	 - Translation approach, audio-lingual method, the way to teach listening.
	 - Aids: power point, handouts, laptop, cassette tapes, projector, screen, board, loudspeaker, candies.
 4. Anticipated problem and solutions:
Students may not have difficulty doing first task.
Solution: T should be ready to give students some strategies.

Activity 1: Play game.
The rules:
Make 2 groups
Each group chose 1 person to play
SS look at the pictures about the sports, remember and try to write on the board the name of the sport in the picture.
Which group has more correct answers will be winner.
- devide class into 2 groups

Check the answers.
- pay attention to the teacher.

Activity 2: Learning the new words

- ask SS to look at the textbook on page 141.
- give some new words and explain the meaning of them.
- ask SS to listen and repeat the new words.

Activity 2: Listen to the tape and do the exercises.

- ask SS to look at task 2 and read through the questions.
- ask SS try to answer the question with the things they remember from the previous time of listening.
- play the tape again for SS to do the task.
- call some SS to give their answers and the others give feedback.
- if many SS cannot complete the task, T might want to let SS listen one more time and pauses at the answer for them to catch.
- look at task 1 on page 142 and read the sentences
- underline the key words.
