I. AIMS:

• motivate Ss and involve them in writing activities.

• develop Students ‘s writing skill.

II. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

• describe film using structures and vocabulary they have learnt in the lesson.

• reduce mistakes in writing.

• improve their skill of writing.

III. APPROACH AND TEACHING AIDS:

 Approach: Communicative Approach + Grammar-Translation Method.

 Teaching aids: textbooks, PowerPoint, a computer, a projector and a screen.

IV. ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:

 Student may tired and unwilling to participate the lesson.

 Some students may lack vocabulary so they can not understand the passage in textbook.

 Students may not good at grammar so they can make mistakes in writing.

DESCRIBING A FILM
AIMS: 
motivate Ss and involve them in writing activities.
develop Students ‘s writing skill.
II. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
describe film using structures and vocabulary they have learnt in the lesson.

improve their skill of writing.

T must arouse S interest from the beginning of the lesson.
Teacher gives meaning of new words in the passage.
Teacher instructs Ss on how to write the description of a film basing on the instructions they have learn in the lesson.
Do writing as group work in class ( The good help the weak)

WARM UP: (3’)
T shows pictures of some films and asks Ss to guess the name and the kind of films.
T asks Ss some questions about the film Titanic (what do you know about this film? How many character does it have?..)
Introducing the lesson:
Today we will study how to write the description of a film basing on the instructions we figure out from reading the description of the film Titanic in the text book.
Look at the pictures and tell the name and the kind of films.
Look at the pictures and then tell what the name of the films and what kind of films we are seeing.
1.Twilight– Horror film.
2. Shaun the sheep– Cartoon.
3. Dong mau anh hung – Action film.
4. Titanic – Love story film.
II. PRE- WRITING: (7’)
TEACHING VOCABULARY:
T uses pictures, examples, explanation to give the meaning of new words.
T asks Ss to repeat the new words chorally and individually.
T uses back chaining technique.
Copy new words into their paper.
 Repeat the new words chorally and individually.
1. tragic ['trædʒik] (a): extremely sad, often involving death and suffering : bi thảm
 Ex: He died in the tragic flood.
 tragedy ['trædʒədi] (n)
 2. sink [siηk] (v)à sinking (n) : go down below the surface of liquid : chìm
 to sinkà sankà sunk
 Ex: The Titanic was sunk in 1912 on its first journey.
 3. iceberg ['aisbə:g] (n) : tảng băng
 4. luxury liner ['lʌk∫əri] ['lainə] (n) : a large ship which has great comfort, provided by expensive and beautiful things : tau thượng hạng
 5. voyage ['vɔiidʒ] (n) : a long journey, especially by ship
 Ex : He was a young sailor on his first 
sea voyage.
 6. engaged [in'geidʒd] (a) : having formally agree to get marry: đính hôn
 Ex: Tom and Marry have just got engaged.
III. WHILE-WRITING: (28’)
TASK 1. (7’)
T asks Ss to work in pairs in 3 minutes to read through the text quickly and do task 1.
T reminds Ss to pay attention to the details of the text.
T goes around and controls the class.
T gives feedbacks.
Work in pairs, read through the text quickly and do task 1.
Ss ask and answer in pairs.
TASK 1. Read the description of the film Titanic in the text book, and then answer the questions.
1. What is the name of the film?
2. What kind of name of the film?
3. What is it about?
4. Where is it made?
5. What is it based on?
6. Who is/ are main character(s)?
7. What do you know about the character(s)?
8. Does the film have a happy or a sad ending?
Suggested answers:
1. What is the title of the film?
 It is Titanic.
2. What kind of film is Titanic?
 It is a tragic love story film.
3. What is it about?
 It is about the sinking of a luxury liner on its first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
4. Where is it made?
 It is made in America.
5. What is the film based on?
 It is based on the true story of the Titanic 
disaster that occurred in 1912.
6. Who are the main characters?
 They are Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater.
7. What do you know about the characters?
 Jack Dawson is a young and generous adventurer and saves Rose DeWitt Bukater from killing herself, and although she is already engaged, the two fall in love.
8. Does the film have happy or sad ending?
 It has a sad ending.

Work in groups, write description of films they like best on the papers using the instructions they have just learnt
Ss present their writing in front of class.
TASK 3. Write a description about the film you like best using the instructions above.
