Stabilization : (1 minute) * Greeting the students and asking them something about the attendance , their health, the weather and preparation. 2. Checking up the previous knowledge: (No checking) 3. Presentation of the new materials . SPECIFIC STAGES TIME TEACHER'S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES THE CONTENT OF THE LESSON 8ms 1. Warmer Game: Word Grid * Preparing a poster of a word grid with 6 rows. (See appendix) * Dividing the class into four groups , and take turns to choose a numbered row. Teacher gives hints If Ss guess the word correctly, they’ll get one mark. If not, another group can give the answer and score the point. The group has more points will be the winner * Checking Ss’ understanding of the instruction. * Students find the vertical word. Expected answer: ENERGY * Declaring the winner Lead-in: * Asking the students some questions : What sources of energy do you know ? Expected answer: Oil coal Sources of energy wind natural nuclear Today we are going to read a text about sources of energy * Writing the title of the lesson on B/B Unit 11 : SOURCES OF ENERGY Period 67 : READING * Dividing the class into four groups , taking turns to choose a numbered row * Trying to answer questions * Writing the title of the lesson down Unit 11 : SOURCES OF ENERGY Period 67 : READING Unit 11 : SOURCES OF ENERGY Period 67 : READING 8ms 2. Pre reading: Pre-teaching vocabulary * Asking the students to work in groups to find out some new words and phrases 1. alternative (a) [ɔ:l'tə:nətiv] có thể chọn để thay cho một vật khác; khác (that can be used instead of something else) (definition) 2. reserve (n) [ri'zə:v] : sự dự trữ; vật dự trữ (supply of something that is available to be used in the future or when it is needed) (explanation) 3. exhaust (v) [ig'zɔ:st] Laøm caïn kieät (to run out of , to weaken , to empty ) (synonym) exhausted 4. released [ri'li:st] = be free : thaûi , phoùng thích (synonym) 5. limited (a) ['limitid] hạn chế, có giới hạn Ex: We have only 45 minutes for this lesson. Ò We have . time for it. * Asking the students to read the words above after the teacher in chorus * Working in groups to find out some new words and phrases * Reading the new words after the teacher in chorus * New words 1. alternative (a) [ɔ:l'tə:nətiv] có thể chọn để thay cho một vật khác; khác 2. reserve (n) [ri'zə:v] : sự dự trữ; vật dự trữ 3. exhaust (v) [ig'zɔ:st] Laøm caïn kieät 4. released [ri'li:st] = be free : thaûi , phoùng thích 5. limited (a) ['limitid] hạn chế, có giới hạn 5ms 3. While reading: Activity 1: Task 1 (p.125) Fill in the gaps * Asking the students to work individually to get the meaning of some words and then choose the most suitable word to complete the sentences * Calling on some students to give the answers. * Giving feedback on what students have 1. released 2. alternative 3. energy 4 .limited 5. exhausted * Working individually to get the meaning of some words and then choose the most suitable word to complete the sentences * Some students give the answers. Task 1 (page 125) Fill in the gaps 1. released 2. alternative 3. energy 4 .limited 5. exhausted 6ms Activity 2: Task 3 : (Page 126) Answer the questions * Asking the students to read the passage again do this task in pairs * Calling one of them to give one questions and choose one of his/her friends to answer * Giving correct answers 1. Our major sources of energy is fossil fuels (oil , coal , natural gas) 2. Yes, it is. Because our demand is increasing very quickly and fossil fuels will be exhausted within a relative short time. 3. The sources of energy mentioned in the text are: fossil fuels, nuclear energy, geothermal heat, solar energy, wind power, water power. 4. I think solar energy is the most potential energy of all the alternative sources of energy. * Reading the passage again and doing this task in pairs * Some students give questions and others answer Task 3 : (Page 126) Answer the questions Answer keys: 1.
