Dear Brother Ca,
A volunteer group came to our little mountainous village last month. We used to have a tedious and quiet life until they came. When they appeared at the end of the path leading to the village, we heard their loud songs and their merry laughter. The village children ran after them and formed a big procession. On the first day, they had talk with the head of the village in the morning, and later on with the villagers in the evening.
They brought a variety of things with them such as clothes, food, and school things. During the days they stayed in our village, they did a lot of different and helpful things for us. They repaired the furniture in our village school and built huts for the homeless elderly people. They dug a few new wells so that we could get more fresh water, distributed exercise books and pencils to the school children, organized entertaining programs in the evenings to teach the village children songs and games. They also talked with us about sanitation, superstitions, and many other things.
Life in our village became newer, noisier, and more exciting. Everyone – old and young- had a good time. I found it a big fun looking at them moving among crowds of children, and even curious adults. By the way, it will be our grandpa’s death anniversary soon. Dad suggests you bring your children with you when you both come back. Send my regards to sister Sau and your family.
