I- Aims:

Testing sts’ knowledge from unit 10 to unit 11: Words/ phrases related to nature in danger and sources of energy; grammar of relative clauses.

II- Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to evaluate their knowledge they have been learning from unit 10 to unit 11 by doing exercises in the test.

III- Materials: pictures, handouts, tape script.

IV- Method: mainly communicative

V- Anticipated problems: Students may have trouble of difficult words and structures in the drills, such as relative clauses with preposition or the ones replaced by participles or to infinitives.

VI- Procedures:

A. Listening: (0,25 points) Listen and complete the sentences. 
T : Asks sts to read the questions and let them guest the topic of the listening' passage .
T : Have sts read the questions carefully to make sure that they understand the questions clearly.
T: Play the tape the first time. And asks sts whether they have answers or not.
T: Plays the tape the second time. Asks sts to complete the exercise if they can.
T: Plays the tape the last time , asks sts listen and check their answers .
T; Have sts work in pairs to check the answers .
T: Call on some sts to present their answers in front of the class to check on the whole.
T: listen and give the correct answers.
- Individual work, then pair work
Suggested answers:
1. Without water, people and other living things cannot live.
2. If there were no plants, water would run off after it rains.
3. Water can be held on the land by planting vegetation.
4. Dam are built across rivers to help hold back the water.
5. Water is stored in reservoirs during wet seasons for use in dry seasons.
B. Reading: (0,25 points).
T: Asks Ss about the topic of the reading passage
T: Asks them to work in groups to discuss the answers.
T: Calls on Ss to give their answers, elicit comments from other Ss
T: Gives the correct answers.

Suggested answers:
1. Air, water and soil are necessary for the survival of all living things.
2. Badly polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. Polluted soil reduces the amount of land that is available for growing food.
3. Because much pollution is caused by things that benefit people. For example, exhaust from automobile provides transportation for millions of people.
4. They would have to stop using many things that benefit them.
5. Governments can pass and enforce laws that require businesses and individuals to stop, or to cut down on certain polluting activities.
C. Pronunciation and grammar.(0.25 points)
 1. Pronunciation: Listen and put a tick (V) in the right box , paying attention to the pronunciation of thr underlined part of the word.
- T plays the tape twice so that Ss can catch the right words
 2. Complete the sentences, using the right form of the verbs in brackets.
D. Writing:(0,25 points).
Write about the measures to protect the environment. Use the following guidelines:
Ask Ss to work in group to discuss the outline
Ask them to work individually to write
Ask Ss to work in pairs again to do peer correction
We are trying to find solutions to environmental pollution problem. People shouls stop cutting down trees for timber. Instead they should plant more trees and forests. They should reduce using cars and motorbikes that cause noise and air pollution. We should prevent farmers from using fertilizers and pesticides that damage the soil. People should not litter on the land and in the water. We should prohibit factories from dumping industrial waste into revers and lakes. Governments over the world had measures that require companies and individuals to stop or cut down on polluting activities.
