Unit 6: Competitions
Class description: - 40 eleventh grade students,30 girls and 10boys ,Ngo Sy Lien High school ,Bac Giang
Objectives:
1. Educational aim: 
- introducing some popular competitions to the pupils
- Vocabulary comprehensions: matching comprehension
- completing the sentences bases on the reading passage
2. Teaching aim
- Help Ss: + improve reading skills
	 + get some language knowledge
3. Skills: Guessing word meaning in context, scanning for specific information and passage comprehension.
Methods: Integrated, mainly communicative.
Assumed knowledge of Ss:
level: high beginning
 Anticipated problem(s)
- Ss may have some difficulties in while reading stage because there are some new words which they don’t know. Thus, teacher should be ready to assist them and teach students how to guess word meaning in context to solve their problem by themselves. 
Teaching aids: textbook, visual aids, blackboard, chalk 
Time: 45 minutes

9.1.Warm up
- Prepare four pictures and 8 pieces of words describing the name of the competitions in four pictures.
- Divide the class into two groups 
- Give the rule of game
- Give each groups 4 piece of words
- Show the pictures on the board and ask the reprentatives of each group to stick the names of the competitions under the pictures
- Ask for students’ answer

- corrects and gives feedback
- Check and control the game

- Teach students some key words and expressions:

- Ask students to repeat
* While - reading
Task 1:
- asks students to read the passage in silence (5’) 
- asks students to read the words and definitions carefully
- asks students to match the words or phrases on the left with their definitions on the right
- asks students to work in pairs and check the answer
- asks students to give answers
- correct the mistakes 
Task 2:
 - Divide the students into two groups
Give them the rule of Lucky animals to do do the task 2 in two groups
 -Ask them to read the questions carefully
ask students to read the passage again 
ask them to give answers
Task 3.
-ask sudents to work in individuals, read paragraph 3 again and complete the sentences
- corrects their mistakes
* Post reading
-work in pairs and answer the following question:
+ Which competition on TV do you like most? Why? 
+ Tell something about that competition.
