2. C¸ch chuyÓn tõ mÖnh ®Ò thµnh danh tõ hoÆc côm danh tõ:
NÕu chñ ng÷ hai mÖnh ®Ò gièng nhau => Bá chñ tõ mÖnh ®Ò phô råi thªm –ing vµo sau Verb.
Eg 1: Although he came early, he didn’t meet her.
=> In spite of coming early, he didn’t meet her.
Eg 2: Because he came early, he met her.
=> Because of coming early, he didn’t meet her.
NÕu mÖnh ®Ò lµ Danh tõ + be + tÝnh tõ => Bá ‘Be’ råi chuyÓn tÝnh tõ lªn tr­íc danh tõ.
Eg1: Though the test was difficult, we could do it.
=> Despite the difficult test, we could do it.
Eg 2: Because the test was difficult , we couldn’t do it.
=> Because of the difficult test, we couldn’t do it.
NÕu m.®Ò lµ §¹i tõ + be + tÝnh tõ => Bá ‘be’ råi chuyÓn ®¹i tõ thµnh TTSH vµ TT thµnh Danh tõ.
Eg1: Even though I was sad, I smiled at the students.
=> In spite of my sadness, I smiled at the students.
Eg2: Because I was happy, I smiled at the students.
=> Because of my happiness, I smiled at the students.
NÕu mÖnh ®Ò lµ It is/ was + TÝnh tõ vÒ thêi tiÕt => the + TÝnh tõ + weather. 
Eg1: Although it is cold, we will climb the mountain.
=> Despite the cold weather, we will climb the mountain.
Eg2: Because it is cold, we will not climb the mountain.
=> Because of the cold weather, we will not climb the mountain.
NÕu mÖnh ®Ò cã There + be + noun hoÆc S + have + Noun => Bá ‘There + be’ hoÆc S + ‘have’
Eg: Though he has a good salary, he doesn’t enjoy the job.
=> In spite of a good salary, he doesn’t enjoy the job.
Eg: Because he has a low salary, he doesn’t enjoy the job.
=> Because of a low salary, he doesn’t enjoy the job.
Cßn l¹i: Thªm “The fact that” vµo tr­íc mÖnh ®Ò.
Eg: Although it got dark, they continued to work.
=> In spite of the fact that it got dark, they continued to work.
Exercise 2 : Write a new sentence with the same meaning , using the word(s) in parentheses
