Textbook, lesson plan B- Procedure: Teacher’s activities Time Learners’ activities Organization: - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. 1 min - The monitor reports the number of students in his/her class to the teacher. II. Checking the old lesson: - T calls 2 Ss to complete the sentences on the board using the suggestions. + she/ advise/ me/ take/ exam//. + VN/ have/ complete control/ over/ the epidemic//. + .................................. - T gives comments and marks 5 mins - complete III. New lesson: 1- Warm- up: - T divides the class into small groups of 3-4 Ss. Then T distributes the following handouts for Ss to do in their own groups. Ss have to fill each blank in the passage with one suitable word from the box. Which group finishes first and has all the correct answers will be the winner. (see supplement) - T leads Ss to the new lesson. 4mins - play the game 2. Preparing Ss to write: - T uses the passsage in the warm-up as a model. - T gets Ss to read the passage again and discuss the main points included in the passage in pairs. At the same time, Ss should write down which sentences belong to which main points. - T calls on 2 Ss to go to the board to write the answers. 10mins - read the passage - go to the board and write down the answers - T asks other Ss to comment on their friends’ answers and gives his/ her own feedback. - Now T gets Ss to work individually to write an outline for their description, using the main points set in the previous activity. Ss should choose one of the popular celebrations in Vietnam to describe. - Ss work with each other to comment on each other’ outline. T goes around and provides help when necessary. - T gets Ss to describe the festival they have chosen in 15 minutes. - T goes around to observe and offer help with vocabulary or structures.
