II. Checking the old lesson: - T calls 2 Ss to complete the following sentences using the suggested words and phrases: + For what reason/ you/ leave//. + It/ interesting/ read/ that book//. - T asks Ss to give comments on the answers on the board. 5 mins - complete the sentences: + for what reason have you left. + it is interesting to read that book. III. New lesson: 1- Warm- up: competition game - T divides the class into small groups of 3-4 Ss. Then T distributes the handout for Ss to do in their own groups. Ss have to match the pictures on the left with the words on the right. Which group finishes first and has all the correct answers will be the winner. (supplement) - T leads Ss to the new lesson. 4mins - play the game 2. Task 1: - T asks the whole class to read the dialogue silently and asks them what points are mentioned in the dialogue. - T checks with the whole class and makes clear that: in the dialogue the two friends talk about Tet holiday, its time and activities. - Ss then practises the dialogue in pairs. T encourages Ss to remember the dialogue so that they can act it out more naturally. - T goes around to observe. - When Ss have finishes, T calls on some pairs to act out the dialogue and gives comment. 8mins - read the dialogue - listen - practise the dialogue - act out the dialogue Task 2: - T asks Ss to 1 student to read out the requirement of the task. - T explains more to make it clearer. -T may ask Ss to list the activities people usually do in these holidays and write them quickly on the board so that Ss can compare these with the information they will deal with later. - Now Ss turn to the next page and do the task in pairs. They match the holiday with its main purpose and activities. - T calls on some Ss to give the answer and asks other Ss to feedback. 10mins - read out - listen - list out - do in pairs - give the answer Task 3: - T asks 1 student to read out the requirement of the task. - T explains more about the requirement to make it clearer. - T gets Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer about the holidays in Task 2.T asks Ss to add any information about the holiday they know to make the dialogue more interesting. For example, they can tell about the origin of the holiday - T goes around to observe and offer help. 12mins - read the requirement - listen - Work in pairs IV- Consolidation: T asks Ss to make sentences using the useful language to check their comprehension: 4mins - make sentences .............................. ...........
