Procedure: Teacher’s activities Time Students’ activities Organization: - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. 1 min - The monitor reports the number of students in his/her class to the teacher. II. Checking the old lesson: - T calls some Ss to summarise the previous reading passage. 5 mins - summarise III. New lesson: Warm- up: Talking about the pictures in the text book. - T puts some questions. 1. What are they doing? 2. What kind of competitions are they participating in? - T leads Ss to the new lesson. 4mins - Sts have a look at the pictures and answer the questions to give the key word. Before you listen: - T gets Ss to work in pairs to answer the questions on page 27 of the textbook. - T calls on some Ss to give the answers. - T gives comments on their answers. - T gets Ss to guess what they are going to listen about. T may play the tape recorder and ask Ss to repeat. - T presents or elicits the meanings of these words. 5mins - answer the questions - give the answers - guess what they are going to listen - listen and repeat and take notes - note down the meanings While you listen: Task 1 - T asks a student to read out the requirement of the task one. - Before Ss listen and do the task, T gets them to read through the statements to understand them and underline key words. - T plays the tape 2 times and asks Ss to do the task. - Then T gets Ss to find a partner to check their answers with. - T checks the answers with the whole class. F Task 2: - T asks a student to read out the requirement of the task. - T asks Ss to read through the questions. T might also want to remind Ss that while listening they need to focus on this information and write the answers down in note forms, not full sentences. - After playing the tape, T gets Ss to work in pairs and check their answers. - T calls on some Ss to give their answers. T provides correct answers. If some Ss cannot have the answers, T might want to let Ss listen one more time and pause at the answers for them to catch. Answers: 1.
