1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Distinguish the sounds /l /, / r/ and / h /.
- Pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly.
- Distinguish the uses of infinitive and gerund in active and passive voice.

B. PROCEDURES

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Distinguish the sounds /l /, / r/ and / h /. - Pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly. - Distinguish the uses of infinitive and gerund in active and passive voice. 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Student’s activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on one student and asks him/her some questions relating to the previous lesson. - T gives comment and marks. III. New lesson 1. Warm- up - T divides the class into 2 groups, and lets them play the game: Listen to music and guess the programmes. ( T plays the tape-recorder) - T checks sts’ answers - T declares the winner (the winner is the one that matches music with the programme correctly) 2. Pronunciation * Pronouncing the two sounds - T models the three sounds /l /, / r / and / h/ for a few times and explains the differences in producing them. - T plays the tape once for sts to hear the words containing these 2 sounds. - T plays the tape again and asks sts to repeat after the tape. * Pronouncing words containing the sounds - T reads the words in each column all at once. - T reads the words once again to help sts distinguish the differences between the sounds in the words. - T reads the words and asks sts to repeat them. - T asks sts to practise pronouncing the words in pairs. - T goes around providing help - T asks some sts to pronounce the words and gives correction. * Practise sentences containing the target sounds - T reads the sentences and asks sts to underline the words with the sounds and write / r/, / l / and /h / under them. - T asks sts to practise the sentences in pairs. - T goes around providing help - T asks some sts to read the sentences and give feedback. 3. Grammar a. Infinitive and gerund * Presentation - T writes some examples on the board and underline the “to inf” and “gerund” Eg: + I agree to go out with him. + She likes watching TV. - T asks sts to give comment on the use of “to inf” and “gerund” in these examples. - T reviews the verbs followed by “to inf” and “gerund” in the examples quickly. To Verb Gerund Agree, disagree, refuse, decide,... Avoid, enjoy, deny, admit,... * Practice (Exercise 1) - T asks to do Exercise 1 individually and then compare their answers with another student. - T calls on some sts to read out their answers. - T feedbacks and gives correct keys. 1. having 2. getting 3. to tell 4. practising 5. to see b. Passive infinitive and gerund * Presentation - T writes some examples on the board and underline the “passive inf” and “passive gerund” Eg:+ I hope to be considered again. + She is afraid of being beaten. - T asks sts to give comments on the use of the “passive inf” and “passive gerund” in these examples. - T reviews the form and use of “passive inf” and “passive gerund” + To be + VpII + Being + VpII * Practice (Exercise 2, 3) - T asks sts to do Ex2, 3 in pairs. - T asks them to compare their answers with another pair. - T calls on some sts to write their choices on the board. - T asks others to feedback and gives correct choices . IV. Consolidation - T summarises the main points of the lesson. V. Homework - T asks sts to do the extra exercises in the workbook. VI. Feedback 1. Good points 2.
