B. PROCEDURES
Date of preparation : Period : 80 Unit 13: hobbies Lesson 2: Speaking A. Aims 1. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: - talk about their private hobbies such as fishing, stamp-collecting, swimming - talk about how to keep and organize them and why they have that hobby. 2. Teaching aids - Blackboard, chalk, handouts. - Textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Learners’ activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students in class and asks Ss to make some class - arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls one student to read paragraph 1 of the text and translate it into Vietnamese. - T calls another student to read paragraph 2 of the text and translate it into Vietnamese. - T gives remarks and marks III. New lesson 1. Warm- up - T gets sts to give the verbs that go with stamps. - T asks sts to answer the question: Who often does these things? - T leads to the next part. 2. Task 1 - T asks 1 student to read the requirement of the task loudly and explain what they have to do. - T explains more to make it clear to all students in class. - T gets sts to study the information carefully. - T teaches sts how to pronounce some words - T gets sts to work in pairs to ask and do like this: T: Which of these hobbies would you like to do? St: Swimming. I like it best because I find it interesting to swim in the swimming pool with my friend. It is also good for my health. T: Which one wouldn’t you like to do? St: Fishing. I am not patient. - T goes around, controls and helps. - T calls some pairs to ask and answer as example. 3. Task 2 - T asks the whole class to read the dialogue silently and asks them what points are mentioned in the dialogue. - T checks with the whole class and makes clear that: in the dialogue the two friends are talking about their hobbies. - Ss then practise the dialogue in pairs. T encourages Ss to remember the dialogue so that they can act it out more naturally. - T goes around to observe. - When Ss have finishes, T calls on some pairs to act out the dialogue and gives comment. 4. Task 3 - T tells sts what they have to do in this task: Make a similar dialogue about collecting stamps. - T teaches some new words and phrases. - T gets one student and make a model. T: What is your hobby, Huong? H: Well, I like collecting stamps. I have been collecting them . T: - T gets sts to work in pairs. - T goes around to observe. - When Ss have finishes, T calls on some pairs to act out the dialogue and gives comment. IV. Consolidation - T summarizes the main points of the lesson. V. Homework T asks Ss to do exercises in the workbook VI.
