Lesson 1: Reading
 A. Aims 
 1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
	- Develop such reading micro-skills as scanning for specific ideas, and identifying meaning in context.
	- Use the information they have read to talk about hobby.
 2. Teaching aids:
	- blackboard, chalk, some pictures, handouts
	- textbook, lesson plan
 B. Procedures

I. Organization
- T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement.
 II. Checking the old lesson
- T calls one student to talk about what he/she learnt in the previous lesson.
- T gives comment and marks.
 III. New lesson 
 1. Warm- up
- T shows some pictures and gets sts to work in group and write down what people in the pictures are doing. 
- T asks the question: When do people do these kinds of work? Do they help to make4 more money? What is your way of spending your free time? ..
- T leads sts to the new lesson from that.
 2. Before you read
- T gets sts to work in pairs and try to make sense of the picture on page 146, using the given photos..
- T calls on some sts to ask and answer like this.
A: What do you do in your free time?
B: I play football and you?
- T checks with the class and asks sts to guess what they are going to read about.
- T introduces the topic of the lesson. hobby.
- T pre-teaches some words:
+ accomplished (a) tài hoa
+ accompanying (v): đệm đàn
 3. While you read
* Setting the scene: You are going to read a passage about hobbies. While reading, do the tasks below.
* Task 1:
- T gets sts to read the passage silently and then do the task. T writes the given words on the board and asks sts to go back to the passage to locate and read around these phrases so that they can guess the meaning.
- T checks sts’ understanding of the phrases by asking them to provide the Vietnamese meaning. 
- T checks the answers with the whole class and gives correct feedback.

- T asks sts how to do this task and may instruct them to use some strategies to do the task.

- T asks sts to work in groups to talk about their habit.
- T goes around to help sts when necessary.
