I. Check up: Put the verbs into the correct form. (poster)

II. Warm up : 
- What are these?
- When do you see them?
- What do you receive inside red envelopes?
III. New lesson:
 A. Pre-reading : 
 1. Activity 1: Look at the picture and discuss the questions. (Textbook/ p.90)
1. What time of the year is it?
2. What are the people in the picture doing?
3. Are they family?
4. Are they happy?
5. What else do you see in the picture?
2. Activity 2: Tell your partner which of these activities you enjoy doing most at Tet.
B. While-reading:
1. Task 1: Find what the following words mean in the text.
- grand: to lớn
- agrarian: (thuộc) nông nghiệp
- banner: băng rôn
- pray: cầu nguyện
- sugared apples: mứt táo
- excitement: sự nô nức, nhộn nhịp
2. Task 2: Decide whether the statements are true (T) or false (F).(handouts)
a. Kumquat trees are popular both in the North and the South of Vietnam
b. Tet is always on 20th February on the Western calendar.
c. People try to be nice and polite to each other because they want to have good luck on New Year’s Day

Tell each other about your last Tet holiday, focusing on the following main points:
- how you prepared for Tet
- how you decorated your house
- who you visited
- what special foods you ate
- what activities you enjoyed doing most during Tet
IV. Homework:
- Learn vocabulary and answers
- Prepare Speaking. 
- T calls 1 st to go the board and give the structure of conditional sentences.
- T evaluates
- T gives sts some reds envelopes and asks sts some questions
- T introduces: “To know more things about Tet holiday, today we learn Unit 8: Celebrations – READING”.
- T shows the picture on the screen and asks sts some questions
 - T goes around the class to help if necessary (explanations of words: decorate, fireworks, pagoda)
- T asks sts to read the text and do Task 1
- T asks sts to work in groups of 4 and do Task 1 on the poster
- Which group gives earlier and right answer, T can give good mark
- T asks sts to close their books and read all statements to make sure they understand all.
- T asks sts to close their books
- T changes the orders of the questions in the textbook.
- T gives points and which group has more points will be winner.
- T hands out posters to groups in order to present in front of the class later
- T can go around the class to give offers of help if necessary or observe.

- If they answer the question right, they will get 1 point.
- If it is a lucky number, they will get 2 points.
