LESSON 30: EXERCISES CLEFT SENTENCES
A. AIMS
1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to:
- Use the cleft sentences correctly and appropriately when they want to focus on
subject, object or adverbial and do some exercises about them.
2. Teaching aids:

- textbook, lesson plan
B. PROCEDURES
Date of preparation: Period: 30 Lesson 30: Exercises cleft sentences A. Aims 1. Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Use the cleft sentences correctly and appropriately when they want to focus on subject, object or adverbial and do some exercises about them. 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Students’ activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on one student to go to the board and asks some questions about him/her. - T gives comments and marks. III. New lesson 1. Grammar : Revision about cleft sentences - T revises the use of cleft sentences by making some examples. - T elicits the comments from sts and makes clear that: Subject focus: to make clear the doer of an action. Object focus: To make clear the recipient of the an action. Adverbial focus to make clear the time, place , ....... - T makes more examples and make sure that sts know how to make a cleft sentence when they want to focus on object or adverbial b. Practice - T gets sts to do this exercise: 1. The neighbour told them about it. 2. My friend came to see me late last night. 3. That boy scored the goal for his team. 4. The dog grabbed at the piece of meat and ran away. 5. The woman answered the man rudely. 6. The boy played pingpong the whole afternoon. 7. The girl gave the boy a special gift on his birthday. 8. He bought the book from that corner shop. 9. He got married when he was 27 10. I met him on the way to school. - T gets sts to share their answers. - T checks and gives final comments. IV. Consolidation - T summarizes the main points of the lesson by asking the question. How many pronouns are there? What is the use of each? V. Homework - T asks sts to do the extra exercises in the workbook. VI. Feedback 1. Good points 2.
