Warm-up(5 minutes)
- Asks Ss to answer some questions.
1.What did you watch competitions on TV?
2.What did you take part in competitions in school?
3.What did they organize?
- Introduce the new lesson: We are going to speaking about the competitions in Vietnam and on the world.
Warm-up
- Answer the questions.
- Answer free.
- Listen and prepare the lesson.
Before you Speak. (10 minutes)
Task 1: 
* Introduce the task. Which of the competitions/ contests below do you like or dislike? Asks Ss to put a tick in the right column. 
 - Guides Ss to use some strategies and do the task.
- Asks Ss to read carefully sentences to understand them.
- Asks Ss to work in pairs and discuss the following couples.
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Asks Ss to compare their answers with friends.
- Calls Ss to read aloud the answers in front of the class.
- Remarks.
- Give Ss some questions.
1.Which competitions do you like?
2.What about Poetry Reading? Do you like it?
3.I like English Competition. What about you?/ Do you?
Before you Speak.
Task 1: 
- Put a tick in the right column. 
- Discuss the following groups.
- Read carefully sentences to understand them.
- Compare the answers with friends.
- Practice the answers in front of the class.
- Answer the questions and practice the pairs.
While you Speak (15 minutes)
Task 2
* Introduce the task: Work in pairs. Ask your partner how he/ she feels about each type of the competitions/ contests in Task 1.
- Guides Ss to make some strategies and do the task.
Ex:
A:What do you think of the General Knowlege Quiz?
B:Oh, It’s great. It’s an opportunity to test my general knowlege.
- Asks them to practice the dialogue in front of the class.
Useful language:
- Asks Ss to read carefully words and sentences to understand them.
- Guides Ss some new words and phrases about the competitions.
- Asks Ss to look at sample and work in pairs.
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Asks Ss to compare the dialogues with friends.
- Calls Ss to practice the following pairs in front of the class and give opinions.
- Suggested dialogue.

*Introduce the task:
- Aks Ss to work in groups. Guides Ss to talk about a competition or contest you have recently joined or seen. Use the suggestions below.
- Guides Ss to make some strategies and do the task.
1.Where/ when did you see or take part in it?
2.What type of competition or contest?
3.Who organized it?
4.Who participated in it?
5.Who won the competition/ contest?
6.Did you enjey it? Why/ why not?
- Asks Ss to answers the questions about a competition or contest you have recently joined or seen.
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Asks Ss to compare their answers with friends.
- Calls Ss to practice the answers in front of the class and give opinions.
- Suggested answers.

- Work in groups. 
- Talk about a competition or contest you have recently joined or seen. Use the suggestions below.
- Answer the questions.
1.I saw it on TV last night.
2.It was an English speaking competition.
3.The International Language Centre.

- Asks Ss write about an English speaking competition.
- Asks Ss to prepare the new lesson.
