Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warm-up. - Asks Ss to answer some questions. 1. Have you ever written a letter to reply to the request of someone’s information ? 2. What did you write about? - Calls on some Ss to answer. - Gives correct answers. + Today, we are going to write a letter to respond to someone.. - Listen and answer. - Answer freely. Pre-writing - Writes some new words and structure on the board and explain the meaning. + venue: + detail: + entry procedure: - Guides Ss to read some times in front of the class. - Calls on some read individual before the class. Pre-writing - Copy down - Read the word phrases in chorus and individually. - Read aloud. While-writing Task 1 - Introduce: - Asks Ss to read the letter carefully and find out the information required for the English speaking competition. - Guides Ss to make some stagiest before class. - Asks Ss to work individually. - Walks around the class to help when necessary. - Asks Ss to compare their answers with friends. - Calls some Ss to read aloud their answers in front of the class. - Corrected answer. 1. Task 2 - Asks Ss to read the requirements of TASK 2 and work out with a peer what they need to include in the reply letter and what kind of language( formal? Informal?) they need to use. - Asks Ss to answer. - Feedbacks. E.g. It normally includes the sender’s address it begins with “ Dear...” not “Hello/Hi” and is closed with “ yours sincerely/ truly” or “best kind / warm regard” not bye” or “ cheers”. - Asks Ss to read information in task 2 carefully then write their own letters. - Asks Ss to compare their writing with friends and correct each other. - Calls some Ss to read aloud their writing in front of the class and others gives opinion. - Corrected writing in front of the class. While-writing Task 1 - Read the letter carefully and find out the information required for the English speaking competition. - Work individually. - Compare the answers with friends. - Read aloud the answers in front of the class. - Write the correct answers: 1. The number of participants. 2. Entry procedure. 3. Venue 4. Date and time 5. Phone number and e- mail of the center. Task 2 - Read the requirements of TASK 2 and work out with a peer what they need to include in the reply letter and what kind of language( formal? Informal?) they need to use. - Read information in task 2 carefully then write their own letters. - Write in individually and discuss. - Compare the writing with friends. - Read aloud their writing in front of the class and others gives opinion.
