III. TEACHING AIDS: Textbook, cassette tapes, lesson plan.

 I. Warm –up ( 4 minutes)
- Asks Ss to answer some questions.
1. What is your hobby?
2. Do you often read book in your free time?
Today we are going to listen a passage talk about a student’s hobby.
- Listen and answer.
- Answer freely.
- Listen.
II. Before you listen( 4 minutes)
- Gives Ss some new words and explain the meaning.
+ profitably: + available: + bygone
+ gigantic: + ignorantly: + otherwise 
- Guides Ss to read them.
- Asks Ss to read in chorus and individual
- Calls some Ss to read aloud them in front of the class.
- Copy down.

III. While you listen ( 25 minutes)
Task 1( 10 minutes)
* Instruction: You are going to listen to the passage talk about a student’s hobby and decide if the following statements are True or False. 
- Guides Ss to listen to some strategies.
- Asks Ss to read carefully sentences to understand the contents in task 1.
- Read/Play the tape the first.
- Checks Ss to do the sentences.
- Read/Play the tape the second.
- Checks Ss to do the sentences.
- Listen to the tape last time and listen everyone sentence to know corrected information. 
- Asks Ss to compare their answers with friends .
- Walks around the class to help when necessary.
- Calls Ss to answer the sentences in front of the class.
- Corrected answers.
Task 1
- Listen to the passage talk about a student’s hobby and decide if the following statements are True or False.
- Listen to some strategies.
- Read carefully sentences to understand the contents in task 1.
- Listen 3 times.
- Compare the answers with friends.
- Answer the sentences in front of the class
- Write the correct answers:
1. T, 2. F, 3. F, 4.F, 5. T,
6. T 7. T 8. F
Task 2( 15 minutes)
Introduce: You are going to listen to the tape again and write the missing words.
- Guides Ss to listen to some strategies.
- Asks Ss to read the passage carefully and guess the missing words.
- Read/Play the tape again.
- Checks Ss to 
- Read/Play the tape last times and corrected information. 
- Walks around the class and help when necessary
- Asks Ss to compare their answers with their friends.
- Calls some Ss to read aloud the answers in front of the class.
- Feedbacks and gives correct answers.
Task 2
- Listen to the tape again and write the missing words. 
- Listen to some strategies.
- Read the passage carefully and guess the missing words.
- Listen the tape last times and corrected information. 
- Compare the answers with friends.
- Read aloud the answers in front of the class.
- Compare T’s answers.

- Work in groups

over-reading(reading too much)

over-reading(reading too much)
in front of the class.
- Feedbacks and gives correct answers.
VI. Home work. ( 1 minutes)
- Asks Ss to rewrite to talk about the disadvantages of 
over-reading(reading too much) at home.
- Prepare the new lesson.
- Work in groups to talk about the disadvantages of over-reading (reading too much)
- Compare their answers with the friends.
- Write the correct answers.
