I- objectives:

1. Aim: By the end of the lesson sts will be able to listen about an interview in which Dr. Brown, a world populaton expert, talk about the world ppulation .

 - Develop such listening micro - skills as listening for specific information and listening for general information.

2. Lexical items: Words/ phrases related to the world population like : developing country, improvement, particularly, inexpensive, punishment, shortage, rank, generation, .

3. Structures: The narrative statements .

II. Teaching aids: p ictures , posters ,tapescript, handout

III. Anticipated problems: Ss may not also be familiar with the note - taking task,so T should provide them some tips to deal with the task.

V- Procedures:

1- Organization

- Greeting and checking the sts’ attendance

2- Checking the old lesson

• does exercise in the speaking part (study the tabble and pactise asking as many question as possible

• does exercise 3 in the speaking part.(match the definition in B to each the word/phrase in A)

*Task 2: Listen again and answer the following questions ( p.85)
 Keys:

He said that the population growth rates in some parts of the world are not the same. The population grows more quickly in some parts of the world than others.
. . . the reason for a fall in the death rates is the improvement of public health services and medical care.
The problems which population explosion causes to the world , particularly to developing countries are shortage of food , lack of hospitals and schools , illiteracy , and poor living conditions.
The expert offered 4 solutions To educate people and make them aware of the danger of having more children .
To provide safe , inexpensive birth control methods .
To strictly implement a family planning policy .
To exercise strict and fair reward and punishment policies.
IV – Post – listening:
* Summarize the main ideas of the passage.
 Questions:
1/ How many questions did the interview ask?
2/ What is the interview about ?
3/ What id the expert say about the population of the world ? . . . . .
V - Homework:
 Write a short paragraph about the population of the world from the listening and offer some solutions to the problems.
