1. warm-up

Games: cut – up sentences
- divide Ss into four groups.
- cut up four sentences into 5 phrases and shuffle the pieces on the table in four positions for the four groups.
- students from each group take turn to go to front, and answer your question by writing it on a sheet of paper. With a correct answer, the student is allowed to pick a piece of paper and take it back to his group. If St can’t answer it, her returns and another St in the group replaces him, etc. continue until the groups get all the pieces of paper.
- Tell the Ss in the groups to put the phrases together to make a meaningful sentence, and then write it down on the board.
- the first group to write the correct sentence on the board wins the game.

2. Pre- writing

format of a thank-you letter.( task a)
- ask Ss to read the situation in Task a and the letter from a student thanking the volunteers for what they have done to his school.
- ask Ss to read the parts in the format corresponding to different parts of the letter. Then elicit the general format of a thank- you letter 
A thank- you letter may look like this;
- use pictures and explanations to present some new words
- Read the words one by one and ask Sts to repeat.
- salutation / opening
- expressing thanks and appreciation for what has bee done
- saying how useful/ helpful the thing or work is
- expressing thanks / gratitude once again.
- writing a social note
- closing and signature

3. while-writing

Activity 1: things that do not belong
- arrange Ss to work in small groups.
- give each group a handout of a thank-you letter
- tell Ss that three are some sentences that do not belong to the letter and ask them to read and find out which sentences do not belong.
- call the groups to read their sentences aloud and check with the class.
Activity 2: Mixed-up letters
- put Ss into pairs and give out handouts
- tell Ss that the two letters are mixed up, and ask them to read the letter, sort out the sentences that do not belong and move them to their correct places in their letter.
- go over the answers with the class

Peer correction
- Ask Sts to work in group of 5, deliver each group 5 pieces of writings and tell them to read and correct their friends’ narratives.
- Tell each group to choose the best piece of writing, and the most special story.
- Go around to control and give help if necessary.
- Call a St. from each group to read their group’s best writing, and ask Sts to give comments.
Card 1- Jack and card 2 – Sinh are delivered out Sts.
