Teaching aids: - textbook - CD player - Sheet of paper - chalk - cards - Handouts Techniques : - skill-based ( listening, speaking) Procedures : State/time Teacher’s and students’ activities Blackboard Materials 1. warm-up (7’) Games: “touch and describe” -Arrange the class into tow groups. -Assign tow groups representatives. -Set up a time limit of 3 minutes. -Blindfold each representative. -Give each team a set of realia in a visible box -Let the representative choose an object randomly ,one at a time and describe it to the groups members - the groups members will take turns to name the object and write the word up on the board. - Elicit what words from above are associated with a birthday party. -Ask SS’ birthdays and how often they celebrations in the world. - Transition: In today’s listening section, we‘ll learn more about birthday celebrations in the world, esp.in the USA write down on the board : . Set A A wrapped gift , an orange, a candle, a pen , a clock, a sweet , a bowl , a spoon , a coke , a hat. Activity 2: Wh- question (Task c, p38) -Have SS read though the questions and decide which information they need to look for. -Have SS listen to the second recoding and answer the tow questions - Assign tow SS to write the answer on the board. Homework (1’) Speaking : Information-gap - Put SS into pairs .Student A is given a text on birthday celebrations in some place(s) and student B its gapped version -Within pairs, SS ask each other questions to fill in the gaps. -In turn student B is given a different text and student A its gapped version. -Pairs continue in the same way -The teacher moves around the class and intervenes only where necessary.
