I. Warm up : 
Jumbled Word:

Lead in: “When do you say thanks”?
Today, you’ll learn how to write a formal letter to express gratitude or thanks.
II. Pre-Writing : 
* Vocabulary:
- amount (n) số tiền
- (to) íssue phát hành
- grátitude (n) sự biết
- (to) expréss diễn tả, bày tỏ
* Checking vocabulary: Slap the board 
* Task 1:Read and Identifying: (p.52)
Ask ss to read the letter and underline the sentences that express the following points:
Expected answer:
the oppening of the letter: Dear sir or Madam
the ways the money is used: the money will help us to repair the old school building and build a new block of flats for the handicapped students.
the gratitude to the donor: I would like to express our thanks for the donation from your company.
the donated amount: I am very happy to receive a donation of $500 from your company some days ago.
the way the receipt is issued: We will certainly issue a receipt as soon as possible.
the closing of the letter: I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours faithfully,
III. While- Writing : 
Task 2: Imagine that you have just received a donation of one million dong from one of the local organizations to build your school librabry. Use the suggestions in task 1 to write a letter to acknowledge the receipt of the donation and express your gratitude.
