** Subject focus
On March 8th
It was Tom who gave a rose to Mary on March 8th.
Form: 
It + is/ was + S + who/ that + V + 
- Use: we use this structure to emphasize the subject
- Meaning: chính ai đó làm gì
** Object Focus
It was Mary that Tom gave a rose on March 8th 
Form: 
It + is/ was + O + whom /that/who + S +V 
- Use: we use this structure to emphasize the object
- Meaning: chính ai đó là
** Adverbial Focus
It was on March 8th Tom gave Mary a rose.
Form:
It + is/ was + adverb (time, place) + that + S + V + 
Use: we use this structure to emphasize the adverb
Meaning: chính lúc nào/ nơi nào ai đó làm gì
** Notes:
- Showing a picture
- Eliciting students to formulate forms
+ Who is he?
+ “Who is she?
+ “What did Tom do on March 8th?”
+ “Tom, Is it subject or object in this sentence?”
+ To emphasize the subject, we can rewrite this sentence beginning with
“It was Tom.” , Who can continue?
- Introducing the sentence to students( if students don’t have any answer)
