- Practice the speaking skill: to ask and answer questions about hobbies.

- Learn some new vocabulary items relating to the topic (Hobbies).

- Talk about their favors activities in daily life.

Guessing game, pair/group work, question and answer.

UNIT 13: HOBBIES
PART B: SPEAKING
I. OBJECTIVES: 
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 
Practice the speaking skill: to ask and answer questions about hobbies.
Learn some new vocabulary items relating to the topic (Hobbies).
Talk about their favors activities in daily life.
II. TIME: 45’
III. TECHNIQUES:
Guessing game, pair/group work, question and answer.
IV. LEXICAL ITEMS & STRUCTURE(S):
Lexical items:  Second-hand (a), classify (v), landscape (n),  broaden (v), pen-friend (n),  book stall (n),  category(n).
Structures: preferto, be fond of, be keen on, be bored with,..
V. TEACHING AIDS: 
Textbook, black board, sub-board, handout, chalks, pictures.

Warm up (7’)
Guessing game:
-divide the whole class into 8 groups.
-show 8 pictures about the activities in black board.
-ask Ss to look at the pictures and to remember the names of the pictures in 30 seconds.
-Each group will write down as many names as possible on the sub-board.
-After 2 minutes, the group who has more correct names will be the winner.

-T introduces the new lesson.

-ask Ss open their book on page 148 and read task 1.
-give some useful language:

Task 1. T asks St to make a dialogue
-ask Ss work in pairs in 3 minutes.
-For example:
A: Do you like swimming?
B: Yes. I like. Because it helps me keep fit.
-call some pairs to practice.
-Present the vocabulary items which are necessary for speaking task.

2. Arrange (a group of people or things) in classes or categories according to shared qualities or characteristics
Classify (v): phân loại
-> classify ST into: phân loại cái gì vào đâu.

While- speaking (19’)
Task 2. Lan is talking to Huong about her hobby of collecting books. Fill the suitable phrases in the blanks in the dialogue:
- give the handout for Ss and let them to do it.
Huong: What is your hobby, Lan?
Lan: Well, I like (1)..........
H: Could you tell me (2) .your books?
L: Well, this must be done regularly. Whenever I find a book which is interesting I buy it immediately.
H: ...................... (3) your book?
L: I buy some from the bookshop near my house and some others from second-hand book stalls. Sometimes my friends, my Mum and Dad give me some.
H: ................................(4) your collection?
L: I classify them into different categories and put each category in one corner of my bookshelf with a name tag on it.
H: (5), Lan?
L: I think I’ll continue to make my collection richer and richer.

Task 3. Make a similar dialogue about collecting stamps.
-ask Ss read the equipment of this task.
- get Ss to work in pairs to do the role-play.
-use the suggestion given on the handout.
