- Draw dashes on the board, each dash is for a letter of the word.
- Have sts guess the letter, one by one.
- For every wrong guess, draw a line, sts will lose the game if they guess wrong 5 times.
- Give sts a cue of necessary:

Ask sts: What do you call the activity of collecting money to support a charity or an organization?

Checking vocabulary: 
Vietnamese – English equivalent
- Say an English word and ask sts to speak out its Vietnamese equipvalent.
- Say the Vietnamese meaning of a word and ask sts to speak out the English word.
- Set the scene:
Now you are going to listen to a passage about Spring School, a special school in Ho Chi Minh City, and then do the tasks followed
Task 1 – Gap- filling:
Instruction: Listen to the passage and fill in the missing information in each sentence.
- Before sts listen and do the task, instruct sts how to do this kind of exercise:
+ First, ask sts to read the sentences carefully. 
+ Underline the key words. For example, the key words in sentence 1 are Spring School, Ho Chi Minh City.
+ Try to work out what they are going to hear.
+ Decide what they need to listen to.
For example: in sentence 1, the word should be an adjective, while in sentence 2 a number + noun / noun phrase may be needed.
+ Get sts to listen to the tape and take notes of the answers. 
- Play the tape once for sts to do the task.
- Ask sts for answers and write them on the board.
- Play the tape one or two more times and pause at the answers so that sts can check their answers.
- Give correct answers.

Task 2 – Error Recognization:
Instruction: 
- Deliver the handouts to sts.
- Tell sts to read the sentences carefully. 
- Play the tape again for sts to do the task.
- Have sts work in pairs and check their answers.
- Call on some sts to give the answers.
Handouts:
1. Spring School provides schools for disadvantaged children in Ho Chi Minh City.
2. Dance, theatre, singing and circus classes were set up in 1999.
3. Spring School requires volunteers helping organize their fundaraising dinner.
4. This is an exciting night in where children dance, sing and play music.
5. More school like Spring School will soon be finding in other cities in Vietnam.
Expected answers:

Task 3 – Brainstorm
- Ask sts to write down what they remember about Spring School.
Spring School
- Call on some sts to give the answers.
- Note down sts’ ideas on the board.
- Elicit feedback from the class and give final comment.

30 street children live & study here.
250 children with special difficulties from District 1 attend classes.
English classes were set up in 1998/
Dance, theatre, singing and folk music classes were set up a year later.
It requires volunteers to help organise their fundraising dinner, contact sponsor & organise these events.
Information – searching:
- Ask sts to search on the Net, newspapers or magazines information about other volunteer organizations/ groups/ schools such as Spring School.
- Prepare for the new lesson: Writing
