I. Objectives:

1. Educational aim: Students should know how to describe the best friend and how to keep the friendship.

2. Knowledge:

- General knowledge: Students learn how to keep friendship.

- New words: Words related to friends and keeping friendship.

3. Skills: - To practice listening comprehension skill.

 - To distinguish true and false statements.

 - To take notes about given questions in order to answer.

II. Method: Integrated, mainly communicative

III. Teaching aids: Student’s book, tape and cassette player, chalks, notebooks

I. Objectives:
1. Educational aim: Students should know how to describe the best friend and how to keep the friendship.

3. Skills: - To practice listening comprehension skill.
 - To distinguish true and false statements.
 - To take notes about given questions in order to answer.

- T asks sts to close the books
- T asks sts some questions about friendship:
1. Who is your best friend?
2. What qualities & characteristics of your best friend do you admire?
3.
Listen to the teacher and answers the questions.
Before you listen
- T asks sts to look at the part: Before listening
- T asks them to work in pairs ask and answer the questions:
1. Who is your best friend?
2. How did you happen to meet him or her?
3. How long have you known each other?
4. What qualities do you admire in your best friend?
- T reads loudly the words in the books
- T asks sts to listen and repeat.
- T listens and checks pronunciation
-T explains some new words & phrases:
1. Apartment building: tòa nhà có nhiều căn hộ
2. Sense of humor: khiếu hài hước
3. give sb a rings: phone sb
4. go through a rough time: trải qua thời kỳ khó khăn
Work in pairs
While you listen
Task 1
- T asks sts to read the true-false statement list and questions in textbook silently for several minutes to make sure that every student understands them.
- T plays the tape twice for sts to do the task.
- T asks sts to work in groups of 4 to compare their answers.
- T checks their answers and corrects if necessary.

Task 2
- T plays the tape again for sts to complete their notes. 
- After playing the tape, T gets sts to work in pairs and checks their answers.
- T listens and corrects their answers if necessary.

-They used to live in the same residetial area in Ha Noi.
-Lan went on a holiday to Do Son & Ha went there to visit her.
-Ha is very friendly & helpful.
-Ha is sociable. She’s got many friends in Do Son & she introduced Lan around.

-They met in the college.
-Minh played the guitar, Long was a singer.
-They worked together.
-Minh has a sense of humour.
-Minh likes to go to plays & movies.
-Minh is a good listener.
-Minh is friendly & helpful

Lan’s Talk:
My best friend is Ha. We’ve been friends for a long time. We used to live in Nguyen Cong Tru Residential Area in Ha Noi. Her family moved to Hai Phong in 1985. It is said that Hai Phong people are cold but Ha is really, really friendly. I first started to get to know her when I was going on a two- day trip to Do Son last year and I did not know anybody there. I gave have a ring and she was so friendly, she said, “oh, I’ll come to visit you”. So she rode on her motorbike to Do Son and 20 mins later she was there. She stayed with me for 2 days. She happened to know a lot of people there, so she introduced me around and we’ve been best friends ever since there.
Long’s Talk:
My best friend is Minh. We met in college. And I was there singing and Minh is a guitarist. So we worked together a lot, but we also became friends. Minh has a great sense of humor, he is very, very funny, and that’s one of my favorite things about him. And over the years, we have been through good times and bad times with each other, and that’s one of the things I like best about him. And we have a lot of the same interests. We like to go to plays and movie together. But when we’re going through a rough time, he’s really, really a good friend, and he’s a very good listener, and he always helped me through.

- After 3 mins, T checks their answer.
