Notes: 
a. Subject focus:
 Khi muốn nhấn mạnh vào chủ thể hay người gây ra hành động người ta dùng câu chẻ để diễn đạt và đặt trọng tâm vào chủ thể đó.
Ex : Mr. Bang went to Britain twice.
à It was Mr. Bang who went to Britain twice.
Practise: Exercise 1 (P.152)
1. It was the boy who visited his uncle last month.
2. It was my mother who bought me a present on my birthday.
3. It was Huong and Sandra who sang together at the party.

b. Object focus:
 Khi muốn nhấn mạnh vào tân ngữ hay đối tượng của hành động người ta dùng câu chẻ để diễn đạt và đặt trọng tâm vào tân ngữ đó.
Ex: The boy hit the dog.
à It was the dog that the boy hit
Practise: Exercise 2 (P.153)
1. It is English that the man is learning.
2. It was the book that the woman gave him.
3. It was the postcard that she sent her friend.

c. Adverbial focus: 
Khi muốn nhấn mạnh vào trạng ngữ (thời gian, địa điểm) của mệnh đề, người ta dùng câu chẻ để diễn đạt và đặt trọng tâm vào trạng ngữ đó.
Ex: Ho Chi Minh was born in Vietnam.
à It was in Vietnam that Ho Chi Minh was born

1. It was in the garden that the boy hit the dog.
2. It was for tea that she made some cakes.
3. It was for him that his father repaired the bicycle.

- Divide class into 2 groups: A & B
- Ask students to rearrange these letters into meaningful words.
- Decide the winner
